Abstract: »In this paper I analyze the shadow of Japanese imperialism and its realities that loom behind the truth of the comfort women, focusing on Seicho Matsumoto' s The Red Lottery. Unlike the typical discourse that incorporates contemporary repatriation works into Japan' s national history and narrates them from the perspective of victims, Seicho exposes the concealed history of Japanese imperialism through The Red Lottery. Furthermore, in tracing the genealogy from The Red Lottery to Zero Focus, Seicho demonstrates that although the power order shifts from Japanese imperialism to the occupying United States, the exploitation of women' s sexuality by male-centered authority is perpetuated and repeated.« (Source: 통섭인문학)
